Calvary Chapel Ridgecrest Sunday School

Want to be part of what God is doing? We do! It starts with Sunday School, where we help the youngest in our church to discover the truth of God’s Word, to believe on Jesus, and to be forever changed. From the friendly welcome activity through the Bible lesson and application. Each element connects children to Bible truths for their everyday lives and draws them closer to Jesus - because that’s what Sunday school is all about! We know the importance of a familiar face and a growing friendship, so our volunteers serve for 13-week quarters to really get to know each student and be a support to them for many years.

We offer Sunday school classes for babies through 5th grade during the same 10:00 am to 11:30 am time frame as Sunday Morning Service in the Main Sanctuary. This provides a program for all ages to be taught and ministered to according to their own developmental level. For families with newborns, our church provides a nursery (equipped with TV monitor to view the service) and a cry room for moms and dads to sit with their newborns in a secluded, safe atmosphere.

Currently, CCR has adopted Sunday school teaching materials from Group Publishing, a company renowned for its excellent Sunday School and VBS curriculum. These easy-to-use resources help the teacher and aide (we observe a two-volunteer rule) confidently teach the Bible in relevant, fun, and creative ways. Recognizing that they are now young adults, Fourth and Fifth graders get a fresh and fun change of format with the exciting Action Bible Curriculum!

Each classroom has both a teacher and an aide as part of our two-volunteer rule. Parents must sign their child into our care at the appropriate classroom and the child and parent receive matching wristbands. The parent wristband must be presented at child pickup to assure our volunteers that the pickup is approved by you. In addition to the classroom setting, listed below are other ministries that support our Sunday School program:

Hall Walker Ministry:

Hall Walkers are the heroes of the Sunday school, providing supplies to teachers, communicating with the Sanctuary, and providing a secure environment to our whole community. They are the first to come and the last to leave. Hall Walkers have direct communication with the Multimedia station in the main Sanctuary and can alert them of any need for a parent to attend their child.

Sunday School Worship:

Worship team volunteers lead school age children in expressing their praise to God through carefully chosen songs and large group prayer. The kids love going to the Youth Sanctuary for their special worship service from 10:10 am to 10:30 am.

Puppet Ministry:

For our youngest children in the downstairs nursery and classrooms, our church has a special puppet stage theater for worship! We have a forty-year tradition of leading our littles in praise to God with puppets. Our Puppeteers are faithful servants, preparing the songs, rounding up the classrooms, and leading the little ones in prayer and praise. This is a fun little outing down the hall for our preschoolers every Sunday!

Sunday School Ministry Leaders

Josh and Heather Graham

                             Josh  and Heather  have been attending CCR for many years.  Heather, her whole life and Josh for 20 + years.  They have been assisting with the Sunday School for many years.
In addition, Josh and Heather have attended Sunday School conferences for additional training. Their three children have attended CCR for their whole lives and are now teenagers.  Heather was our 2025 VBS Director and Josh the Recreation Leader.  Both of them have worked at VBS for years.  Josh loves music and is a part of our Worship team.  Heather works tirelessly to keep the Sunday School Teachers  supplied with everything they could need!
They both love children and Sunday school teachers, too!  They love Jesus and their passion is helping kids follow Him for life!
